Make the Future Yours! Live is a series of events designed to inspire and signpost young people to the many work and education opportunities open to them.

Each event is themed and launched in the schools and colleges taking part several weeks before the day of the event so that the students come with specific tasks in mind. The tasks give the students an opportunity to engage with employers and work as teams.

Make the Future Yours! Live brings together employers, professional bodies, higher education and careers professionals. Whichever route students are looking at in education or employment, there will be people at the event who can share their own experience with the students and help them with the information they need.

The students attending the event start their experience with short talks from industry professionals that will give them some of the information for their task and also an insight to the types of careers available in the industry. Following the talks, the students will have time to talk to companies and educational providers to help them complete their tasks and give them inspiration for their future career.

Importantly the events provide the schools and colleges with opportunities to meet the Gatsby Benchmarks, which were created to provide the students with meaningful encounters with employers and knowledge of the workplace. For employers, the events create awareness of the careers that they can offer their future workforce.

in the space industry

The space industry is rapidly growing and it has become an important factor in helping our planet with many of the challenges that it faces at the moment. Climate change, deforestation, famines, displaced populations are being supported by data sent from satellites. The data is also used for communications and navigation, both part of our everyday lives.

In a few years it is forecast that 5% of the UK workforce will be involved in the space in some way. This has created a lot of new jobs from Level 3 apprenticeships to graduate positions. The South-East has the largest number of companies in the space industry in the UK and is an important contributor with some major corporations in the area.
